A little bit political today.
"This is mine not the mine's" reads the sign out the front of this very basic cottage.
The storey behind the sign is this: Despite what you would think that new coal mines and mine extensions wouldn't be allowed to happen due to climate change the mine near the village of Wollar has been given permission to expand their open cut mine into the village. The mine is owned by one of the world's biggest miners (nameless for here) that is from a large nameless country on the other side of the Pacific ocean.
They have been busy buying up all the land and houses including the local shop and church (see WS for the church). Just 2 people are holding out against selling up including the owner of this cottage. The cottage itself is built of mud bricks and corrugated iron.

Hello Ian,
When I hear stories like this I get more and more convinced that a total environmental disaster within the next few decades is inevitable. Everyone (basically) knows the drastic measures that have to be taken to prevent the disaster but the big companies' profits are always more important. And almost all governments are too scared to lose votes to do anything. It's mainly "blah, blah, blah" to quote Greta Thunberg.
Both photos are "nice", but that's not so important.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
There is a lot of news about the coal mines in Australia, especially with the big meeting in Glasgow next month. The point of view is showing the details of the house. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian, Nice photo and interesting note. What should happen that the governments are concerned about climate change? Are devastating floods, fires and hurricanes not enough? Also, the great biggest miners want to be richer and richer. The problem of the coal mines is very important in Poland too. Coal is our
"black gold".
Best regards MAlgo

Hello Ian,
I'm glad you titled this photo what you did; it made me seek out the small sign beside the cottage. This might be a simple scene, but it represents what the world is dealing with right now. It's unbelievable that coal mines would still be expanding as climate change wreaks havoc everywhere. Unfortunately, there will always be those who put profit above all else. There is a countdown clock here in NYC, and according to the clock, the world has less than eight years to make serious changes before many cities are under water!

Hi Ian,a really bad story, we will see many things disappear, like the church, and it seems that the ecological transition that wants to abandon coal has not had an influence here. Two photos of something that we may not see anymore, but above all an interesting post. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Olá Ian
Infelizmente a sede de lucros vai oprimindo vilas e pessoas que escolheram um lugar para viver tranquilamente. Muito boa nota e foto!

Another fine post, Ian. This time is the message (the note) rather than the picture itself which takes central place. I don't mind. It works and deserves the post.
Thanks & enjoy your weekend

Hello Ian,
I love this story of positive defiance, despite all the pressures!
I am not so pleased with a company which turns its eyes away from the truth, for financial gain! If open cast mining continues, their thoughtlessly gained wealth will be useless, with no place to spend it!!
Your photographs are sharp and informative.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian.
The house looks old, in a charming natural environment, but after reading your note, its owner seems brave to me, defying the power of money, who does not care about the damage done to the environment, it seems incredible. that in a developed country like Australia, it is authorized to establish a coal mine, when we are already immersed in the ravages, which is causing the alteration of the environment, when it is more than demonstrated the damage that coal does.
Very good lighting management and good sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
I wish you a pleasant week.
Very best regards.
Luis.
