Barmedman is a small rural (wheat and sheep) town, population about 200, in the NSW Riverina on a branch railway line from Temora. That line only carries goods trains these days. Passenger services stopped in the 1970s.
Like many small towns many businesses have closed - see the WS for an example. Supplies would be a 1/2 hour drive away in Temora.
However the 2 pubs in the main photo appear to be surviving although in checking the photo again I'm not so sure about the one on the left (battered verandah and no signs for a beer brand).
