Photographer's Note
This is Colorado National Monument, a protected Area in Colorado. It cannot compete with other famous partners in the USA, like Bryce Canyon, or Canyonlands, but is is still a very beautiful area, worth a one day visit if you happen to be there.
Evening thunderstorms are common is summer, and they turn the sky to very dark, creating perfect conditions for photography.

Hi Stefano
The storm is coming! I really like the light. Not easy with a Velvia with such natural contrast. Result : some parts of the cliff are overexposed. It's impossible to change this with a diapo film
Cheers

Hello Stefano,
It is true that the lightning is very good on this shot. It is modeling the landscape, helping to separate the different grounds of the composition.
A very good landscape photo where the high saturation of the velvia was welcome.

I was there too, not many have, they mostly move over to Utah as you describe it. And "same same" situation, we had a bad thunderstorm when we were there and it came quick so we were hiding in the car hoping to survive :) My photos are I don't know a bit so so la la, I guess we were tired from all the driving which does not help to make good pictures. It is a beautiful area and I have some photos published close by (you don't have to look, I just mention it in case ...). Your lovely post brings back memories of a great summer we had last year ... thanks for showing ... Barbara.
PS. Funny enough not many people (Europeans) realized that Colorado has a red center, and actually my travel guides did not cover it either much. What a shame, it is worth all the driving, no question.

Stefano,
Great shot of this fantastic landscape - I went here not expecting too much and was blown away by the place (and there are many more hidden gems in this area).
Thanks for the reminder!

You just forgot to catch some native Indians and cowboys riding his horses in the canyon. Very nice view with an excellent light over the cliffs.
best regards Stefano.
