Photographer's Note
3 deer topped a small rise near the start of the Virgin River trail in Zion National Park. Photo taken with a Nikon D50, Tripod, Moose filter and 80-400mm lens.
Edit: The orange is actually part of the Zion Canyon carved by the Virgin River. It allows for some very unique photo opportunities as the light sets inside the canyon hours before it sets outside the canyon. Here the lighting was already moving up the canyon at 3pm essentially placing this area in shadow.

John,
I like this shot, it's great the way the soft focus on the gallon walls completely changes our perspective of them. We are so used to seeing this geology pin sharp. Here, it disolves into almost liquid pattern.
There are a couple of things though. I think the blacks could be a little blacker, as none of the foreground - rocks, deer or bushes require any detail. They'd be better of with none at all.
Also, I think you could crop a better - more definite, purposeful, composition out of this frame - probably several different ways.
Regards
colin
