Jellyfish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium
The Monterey Bay Aquarium, located in Monterey, California, consistently ranks as one of the best aquariums in the United States. Some of their biggest exhibits are their sea otters, the large kelp forest, and their huge exhibition of jelly fish titled Jellies: Living Art. The two jellies displayed here are sea nettle jellyfish. This species is found in the Atlantic, and while its sting ranges from moderate to severe, it is not particularly lethal to humans.

Brilliant colour, which is always a big bonus in any photo! I must be the only person who has visited Monterey and never went in the Aquarium, and shots like this really make be regret that. Beautiful!

Hello Amber - really eye catching thumbnail has brought me to this full size version! Nice balance in having the two jellyfish at different depths, allowing us to see the long trails they leave behind as they sink into the tank. Really difficult to shoot through glass, so I think this is really well done.

Hello Amber,
I'm terribly sorry, but I think there are some quality problems here. I think that yo pushed the pp a bit too far. It results in some noise (in the orange for example) and color aberration (blue cast in the "tentacles").
The idea is very nice though. It's just that I think the quality of the finish result could be better...
I'm pretty sure I already asked you, but again, what was the subject of you thesis?
Have a nice day,
Marc

Hi Amber,
I love those animals although I prefer to stay far from them :)
Your image is a lot attractive with those nice colors contrasts. The crop looks perfect as much as the blue background. This makes me remember my trip to California in 1997. I had the chance to visit that aquarium. Wonderful place! And excellent work on this one!
Regards,
Carlos
PS: thanks for your words on my last post.

The composition is perfect with a very nice saturated colors.
Impressive, and better in a picture than too close to me.

WOW...! What an awesome shot of a couple of monsters I'd prefer not to bump into when scuba diving! Stunning light and colour and amazing vibrance. You've produced a real beauty here, Amber. Kind regards, Paul.

Hi,
Nice shot with bright colors and good composition. The movement of jellyfish is elegant. The picture would be interessant too with a 180° rotation. Did you try this?
Best regards,
France
