Photographer's Note
I was on the way back from Austin to Lubbock. It was 7 hour drive. It was raining so heavily. I was talking with my friends in the car while driving back home. Holding a camera waiting for a scene to take picture. Saw this place with big truck and the background dark, I thought it would be a good shot. Then I asked my friend to stop the car for me to take this picture.

Hi Sothy,
Very beautiful photo, I definately like it. So dark, yet such a good contrast between the truck and the dark clouds behind thanks to the light spray. The wet road and the reflections of the headlights add a lot to the bad weather atmosphere. A good choice to ask your friend to stop.
Very well done!

Hi Sothy. A very good shot. The POV is specially good. The picture seems like a scene of a terror film, with this mist behind and the force of the lorry making a strong picture. The red color of the lorry is very proper and gives contrast. Congratulations.

Hi Sothy,
I love it .. you turned in ordinary scene into an extraordinary moment (a strength of yours by the way) .. The truck seems to explode from the dark rain .. the bit of reflection off the water is great .. to be really really picky .. I wish the truck was a bit brighter or more saturated ... but this is wondrous ..

Your photographic instincts were right, Sothy. The light conditions against the dark background turned the scene into something great. Your image reminds me of some wild chase movies, although your image is definitively the better one.

Hello Sothy,
I discovered this photo today, and immediately came to my mind, one of the great movie of Steven Spielberg, namely "Duel". I truly hope you have seen this movie, because I am sure that you will undertand why I had this thought. Since I don't want to summarize the story (I am not good at that in English), you can read it here.
There is more than one reasons why though. First, obviously, the big truck that seems to come from nowhere, and seemingly menacing.
It was one of the first movie of Spielberg. I remembered to have seen it at the television before Spielberg was known. And I remembered also that I was supposed to go to bed, but I just could not. What had started as a not very interesting movie, was in fact one that you could not leave before the very end. The suspense was one of the best one I've seen. It is a bit like that with your photo. At first sight, you think "That is just a photo of a truck". And then, it starts to make you feel a little uncomfortable. And finally, you are sure it comes from Hell directly! :)
Sothy, the next Spielbert? :)) We never know!

Bonjour Sothy
Congratulations for this wonderful photo!
The feeling that comes out of it is extraordinary, with the thick, yet translucent fog in background and the water splashed by the truck. The perspective from which the slanting curve is seen gives an impression of insecurity when looking at the truck.
The perspective of bank turn gives an impression of insecurity for the truck. The only touches of color of the light vehicle accentuate this feeling.
Have you seen the movie "duel" by Steven Spielberg ?

I'm sorry, but I don't get what's so great about this picture. I mean - it does have a nice POV and strange misty conditions, but is it really that enlightening?
PS: Don't think I'm saying this because I'm jealous of you "points" or whatever. I'm not.

Hi sothy
when openning the thumbnail I understood the meaning of the title, its really a scary and fantastic photo, not much colors but the composition and the dark background makes it a magazin front page photo. congratulations - JCarmo

Hello Sothy !
This shot is so nice...
I'm very impressed by your POV. We have the feeling to be lying on the road with the truck that comes toward us !
I like also this ubiquitous color gray in this shot that creates a really special atmosphere. Very interesting.
Well seen and well done. Really a good work.
I have seen you have many shots of Cambodia in your gallery and this interest much me so I think you will see me again !
Have a nice day.
Regards,
Magali

Excelente composición, parece que esté oscura pero se aprecian perfectamente los detalles que definen el momento.

Olá Sothy,
I have this kind of fetish with wet floor/pavement (whatever) and the light or neon reflections... I can't help it. I love this photo, it's powerful and "scary" because of the imminent danger due to the weather conditions, velocity and size of the truck on this moment.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing, I also like the note ;).

Hi Sothy:
I didn't a picture of a truck in Lubbock could be a fantastic shot, but this is really top notch. The combination of the depth created by that low perspective, the curves of the road, the dramatic sky, and the water flying off that truck all combine to really create a fantastic shot. Of course the colors aren't particularly vibrant, but that's to be expected with this kind of weather. Great job.

Hi Sothy!
A masterpiece indeed! It can't have been easy to take a picture in the dark, in the rain and of a moving truck! How did you set your camera for such a great success?
I love the composition with the truck coming out of the night around the bend as if it was coming out of hell as you say!
It would make a great picture for a fantastic film!
TFS.
Best regards.
Marie Louise.

Almost like a sequel to Spielberg's first movie hit, DUEL. The sight is definitely ominous, good job for giving such allure to this scene.

Greetings Sothy,
So simple, yet so powerful - and I impressed you were looking for photographs at that time and place. A real US archetype - a bit truck on an open road. You have captured something special here, well done and thanks, Iain

Hi Sothy
I love trucks. This is a Peterbilt.
I like the effect of the spray and the darkness.
