Summer's End at Glen Haven.
North Fork of the Big Thompson River - Glen Haven, Colorado
It is cold .. cold .. cold .. here in Colorado today .. yesterday morning it was -6ºF (-21.11 C) .. as I type it is 5ºF (-15ºC) .. brrr ... So I went searching for something a bit warmer to post this morning .. a little haunting memory of summer.
As you head to Rocky Mountain National Park from the front range city of Loveland, Colorado you follow a very scenic highway along the base of the Big Thompson River Canyon .. The road and the river splits at a small collection of cabins named Drake. If you follow the smaller, less traveled road you will find yourself alongside a much smaller North Fork of the Big Thompson river .. It is pleasant and beautiful little road .. with numerous forest picnic grounds along the river .. it passes through another little town named Glen Haven .. and then after a short steep climb joins the main road again in the resort town of Estes Park (at the base of the National Park).

Great picture,the exposure is perfect and the colours are beautifull.
If in Colorado it's really cold ,here in the Alps it's the opposite...it's too warm...really too warm....now it's 8.00PM and at 1300m of elevation it's about 6°C....normaly January it's the coldest month and it must be under 0° every night.

The water here - great! Meanwhile it will have been stopped. Stopped by winter, as far as I can remember...;-)
The "moving" triangle in this picture and the three parts, water, rocks, greenery, work very well in this pictue!

Hi John:
Nice shot of the river here. I like the moss-covered rocks and the way the water swirls around the stone in the river. I do think there's a bit of a cyan color cast to the water and the picture in general. I did a workshop to try to mitigate that somewhat. Hope it helps.

This is a type of photo that I really like. Sense of running water surrounded by calm green forrest. PErfect thing to relax.
