Photographer's Note

I was in San Francisco a few days ago with a friend who had an appointment. I brought my camera and took the opportunity to spend a bit of time on Ocean Avenue near where the Muni Railway passes through on its journey from San Francisco State University toward downtown. As I checked out the assorted folks waiting at what proved to be a trolley stop I noticed two little girls with their father inside a nearby credit union.

This little girl obviously is much in love with her father, who seems as sweet and attentive to his girls as they are to him. The second girl sits in a chair to the right, outside the frame. The expression on the girl's face is priceless, as is the tender caress of her father's hair. Note his gentle embrace of his daughter at the same moment.

It is easy for adults to overlook the adoration of the youngsters in their lives. Over the weekend I spent time with my seventeen year old god-daughter. I was surprised when a friend called her and she excused herself, saying "My god father is over helping with my computer." I know she still treasures the teddy bear I gave her when she was one year old, but I forget how important I am in her life. This is a wonderful reminder for me and perhaps for you as well. Enjoy.
