Photographer's Note

This is a peek through a doorway in the Ezekiel Tower at Bryn Athyn. The Ezekiel Tower the part of the complex that's built in the Romanesque style.

During the construction of the cathedral four independent guilds were formed: one for stone and masonry work, one for woodwork, one for metalwork, and one for stained glass. These guilds were used in lieu of an architect, builder, and general contractor. The guilds were formed so that the creative changes by the artists and builders working together would be nurtured rather than thwarted.

There were no straight lines or right angles used in the construction of Bryn Athyn Cathedral. If you look closely at these doorways, you will see a slight bow to them.
