Photographer's Note
"The Cathedral of Saint Andrew traces its beginning to the founding of St. Mary’s Church by the Rev. Frederic Baraga. He built a small church, rectory and school on the west bank of the Grand River and the people who attended the church were Native Americans. The Rev. Andreas Viszoczky was named the parish’s first pastor two years later. After the Native Americans left and the town of Grand Rapids grew, Father Viszoczky built a new church on Monroe Street which he named St. Andrew. The church building was constructed of Grand River limestone and completed in 1850. The newly established Diocese of Grand Rapids chose Saint Andrew’s as the cathedral and it was consecrated on April 22, 1883. Lightning struck the cathedral in 1901 and a fire destroyed part of the church building. It was rebuilt and expanded. The cathedral was renovated in 1979-1980 and also from 1997-2000. The front entrance of the cathedral was remodeled in 2009 and the Piazza Secchia was laid." (Gleaned from Wikipedia.)
After our museum tour, we wanted to visit this cathedral but we found out that there was a service going on. So we returned to our hotel. This set of photos concludes my reportage from our trip to Grand Rapids in the beginning of May. I will be back after a few days' excursion to the Poconos for Memorial Weekend.

Hello Murat,
It's a nice church, and even though the weather wasn't very inviting the colors have turned out well. The hotel ceiling would have done well in a series of minimalism.
Have a nice trip.

Hello Murat,
A very nice photo from a good angle of the church façade and its two different spires. The warm colours of the brickwork make it stand out well from the cloudy sky.

Hi Murat,
Beautiful church. I like this elegant architecture. You have selected a nice angle to present it. Judging briefly from the miniature I thought that the difference in height between towers is due to the perspective but of course after I opened the photo I could see that the church is asymmetrical.
Very well done,
M

Hi Murat,
This neo-gothic cathedral is splendid, its high tower on the right is remarkable.
A good job that is enjoyed.

Hi Murat,
Great shot of this beautiful cathedral. The stormy sky nicely cooperate with the color of the shingle on the towers. Do you live in Grand Rapids because I saw a few pictures from that city.
Great composition as well as the colors, light and sharpness.
Best regards,
Zbigniew

murat
it is a beautiful church, usually protestants churches are ugly and have no mention to saints as this one. I liked the contrast of the golden stone and the grey sky. curious ceiling of the hotel indeed.
take care
jorge
