I find it almost irritating using the yellow filter, but it has it's advantages with great contrast and impact. As you can see the long shadows before the night comes. Most of these birds must bed down before the darness falls. The other half come out to prey on them like snakes, gators, possums, raccoons,

i have never used a yellow or gold filter, it doesn't really interest me to be honest. However, I suppose there are those rare times where it could be favorable. your shot almost has a bronzed look to it, I like the light shining bright on the water and the wrinkles on the water surface. neat end result with the silhouetted birds. cheers

Though the filter may irritate you, it creates a very subtle mood to the birds, searching the water for their supper.
Three was a good number, compositionally, to include and whilst two are stationary, using their stealth, the thirds is busy seeking a new spot. We can clearly see how high it lifts its leg and be aware of the circles of movement around the birds.
