Photographer's Note

V J on the Runway is a cafe located between the approach and take-off paths of the two runways at Birmingham International Airport. You can sit here and watch planes take off and land.

A few years ago I heard rumors that the property was to be condemned and taken over and ultimately incorporated into the airport's grounds via imminent domain laws.

The building's appearance appears stuck in the 60's or 70's. I was slightly surprised to see the business still there and open upon my arrival. I must note that of the 3 or 4 times I've been to the site over the last 10-15 years, business has been slow, just as is shown in this photo. I wouldn't be surprised if economics or the local goverment eventually claim this unique spot.

Outside of the low-flying airliner on approach, there is nothing spectacular about the photo. I'm glad to have taken it in the case that this will one day be gone.
