Photographer's Note
In the United States when utility crews make repairs on a street, they generally post signs that read, "Men at Work." It probably makes more sense to call this photo "Man at work, witnessed by six others." A break in a water main had caused puddling above the ground and was threatening to develop into a geyser. Fortunately, these workers got to the problem before it became a geyser... after digging down about 3 m and repairing the broken main.
I liked Bev Robinson's joke:
• "How many workmen does it take to replace a lightbulb? The answer is six. One to screw in the bulb, and the others to turn the room around."
We have many variations in the United States: by State, by disposition, by culture, by gender...
• In Virginia, six. One to screw in the bulb, five to remind us how the earlier bulb was better.
• Among feminists, fifteen. One to screw in the bulb, fourteen to be supportive.
• At the great medical school of Johns Hopkins University, two. One to stand on the ladder, a second to kick out the ladder.
• Among Californians, thirty-five. One to screw in the bulb, the other thirty-four to 'share in the experience.'
• In New York, "What's it to you! None of your business."

Bonjour, cher ami Bulent,
Philippe

Hello Bulent,
It is funny indeed to see how six men are watching while only one of them is actually working, but I guess in the end fixing the water main required more than one person. The bright yellow and red/orange colours are very appealing.

Hi Bulent
That's allways the main situation: one is working while 6 of them are looking at him, giving him some advice....
I was amused by their names on the yellow jerseys, as some football players!
Cheers

Hello Bulent,
Fine post of the men at work, added this to my theme with same title.
As a joke I'd say, at the scene there are 5 experts and one tractor-worker who doe's the job...
Best regards,
Ike

Hello Bülent,
"Men at work" is a popular theme, whether they are actually working or not. When they are also dressed in bright vests and helmets like here, such working men provide excellent opportunities for color photos. Here they are also accompanied by a lot of red elements that make the photo even more attractive. This picture reminds me of this one which I posted here last week.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bulent,
You've noticed how many workmen it needs to repair the simplest of jobs, too! It's like the joke:
'How many men does it take to replace a light bulb?'
'Six, one to put in the bulb and the the other five to turn the room round!'
It's a very well captured moment with an appropriate, humorous sign, a fine lead from the ladder to a scene that this really well composed on a diagonal. I like how the reds link everything together.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello Bulent,
Well presented daily life composition with a great touch of humour about it. I wonder if the men themselves would see the funny side. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Bulent,a spontaneous shot and one that has got everyone thinking about the question..."How many...." which made me smile at all the variations.
A great idea to have their names printed on the back of their jackets, just like football players at a match! No skiving then!
The placing of the sign 'Men at work' is an excellent comment, or is it a critique of the men?
Regards Jean.

Hello Bulent,
nice the street snapshot with the seven workers to watch the operator of the small excavator. This remind me similar cases here in Greece, that from the ten workers, one works and the rest nine watch him.
I like the contrast of the colours with the red sign to be the eye catching of the image.

A nice, everyday life photo made humoristic by the note and the comments.
These men seem to be having a conference on how to do the job best when THEE man at work has finshed his job.
Thanks for sharing.
Best regards.

Hello Bulent,
I just left Transilvania county in Romania but I noticed the Spotsville County shirts these workmen are wearing. Good sharpness and the red ladder provides a fine lead in line. Tfs!

Ciao dear Bulent
heheheh good jokes, thanks to Bev and to you. I like the dominant reds and oranges here and the pattern the work men make. This scene is so typical everywhere around the world, I like the humour with which you present it.

Hello, dear Bulent,
If you remember Men At Works was an australian rock band of 1980th with a few pop hits. By the way, the photo is funny indeed. The worker's uniform reminds me the firemen. So serious.
I am going to NYC in November again.
Best wishes!
Serghei
