Photographer's Note
If anyone is confused by the title "Breakfast at Wimbledon" and the location appears as the United States, the scene is in my study in Virginia, USA. The television set is tuned to the beginning of today's matches at the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, in England. As a tennis player, it is an exciting experience for me to actually enjoy breakfast at Wimbledon, although it is 8:00 am here in Virginia and 1:00 pm in England.
The four American announcers seated left-to-right are Chris McKendry, a journalist for ESPN; Chris Evert, a former Women's World No.1 and 18-time Grand Slam Champion (1970s and 1980s); John McEnroe another legendary American player, a former Men's No. 1, and considered one of the best players ever. McEnroe had the unenviable reputation as the "enfant terrible" of men's tennis, endlessly throwing temper tantrums. But as an announcer, he is first-rate... wise, knowledgeable and gracious. Finally, seated at the right end is Patrick McEnroe, John's brother, and an exceptionally fine doubles' player. I normally don't notice how women are dressed, but here I am very happy to have Ms. McKendry wearing the bright red dress, an important compositional element for the scene.
I have hundreds of photos spanning the past few decades still to upload to Trekearth. This is a rare photo that I am posting immediately after shooting it. The two statues on the windowsill depict a cowboy and a Native American, respectively. The tree seen window on the left is a tall (15 m) Norwegian pine, the right side shows the deck/balcony and beyond it a small pond. The three stained glass windows were created by my wife's late uncle, Roy Miller. A machinist most of his life, after he retired, he began to make Tiffany-style lamps for family and friends. When he offered to make a lamp for me, I was much more presumptuous, asking him to create three window panes of Penrose Tiles, instead of a lamp, to my specifications.
Sir Roger Penrose who formulated the symmetry underlying this mathematical tiling was a brilliant mathematical physicist at Oxford University. Crystallographers explain known crystals by their mathematical symmetries. Shortly after Penrose published his discovery, an Israeli scientist, Danny Schectmann discovered a "quasicrystal" with a related symmetry and won the 2011 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Penrose tiles are comprised of a pair of shapes that tile a flat surface only aperiodically (when the markings are constrained to match at borders). Seen in the stained glass, the two tile-shapes are rhombuses called "kites" and "darts," respectively. They were grouped here to feature a five-pointed star and a soccer ball.

Hello Bülent,
This is a highly original composition and a fairly rare news report on TE. It's interesting to see your well decorated studio, which seems to face a beautiful garden. The photo is generally well exposed. Some o/e of parts of the outside view could not have been avoided and is not at all disturbing.
Kind regards,
Gert
PS Soon the movie "Borg" opens in Swedish cinemas, maybe also in the US. It's about the legendary Wimbledon final in 1980 between Borg and McEnroe, where Shia Labeouf plays the role of McEnroe.

Hello Bulent,
A very nice glimpse of London in your study during your breakfast and Wimbledon's lunch. I usually have dinner at Wimbledon these weeks, as I usually switch to BBC to see some tennis in the early evening. The beautiful windows of your study are a great background.

Hello Bülent,
The statues either side add scale to the huge tv screen. Good sharpness and composition. The designs remind me of Dutch artist Escher. Tfs!

Bonjour, cher ami Bulent,

Hello Bulent,
I like John McEnroe as a commentator and I liked him as a player. He always commentates with knowledge on Wimbledon fortnight and, as a player, he brought passion and flare to the game, as well as a little 'naughtiness'!
This is a very well composed shot and, as you noted, is enlivened by the red dress!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Bulent,
original picture of your study in Virginia. I know this room :). Excellent composition, I like the symmetry and colours. and what a great idea to have the stained glass windows with the Penrose tiling. Probably you know this photo. (from Wikipedia). Penrose was a few months ago in Warsaw, he had lecture in Physics Department of the Warsaw University.

Hello dear Bulent
The image within the image makes this like a collage picture. Even from within the screen the bright red dress of the woman at the left stands out.
"Without going out of my door
I can know all things on Earth
Without looking out of my window
I could know the ways of Heaven"
(The Beatles)
Maybe old George was singing about television...

Hello Bulent
Fascinating view of your study. Must be a very attractive and stimulating place to work.
I hope John McEnroe did behave here on television. I suppose he is a little older and wiser than when he was still a top-tennis player.
This picture could be the start of a new theme: The study of a TE-member. We’ll see.
Excellent presentation, have a nice day, Groet Rob

Hi Bulent.
You have achieved a fantastic composition, with the sharp image on that large TV, which looks very well integrated into the decor that surrounds it and to which it integrates very well. The pretty stained glass windows, and the trees through the windows, like natural paintings.
Good perspective of the image, very pleasing to the eye.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
Have a good weekend.
Warm greetings.
Luis.

Hi Bulent
Thank you for you invitation to have a tea break in front of the TV, an every day scene but rarely recorded with a good light management; we are of course attracted by the red dress of the lady at left
Have a nice sunday

Hello Bulent,
What beautiful windows you have in your study. The artistic details on top are wonderful. This spot looks very cozy, and almost a bit old-fashioned, and then we have a modern, flat-screen television right in the middle. It's a meeting of two styles that's common these days. :-) I hope you're enjoying a wonderful summer so far.

Hi Bulent
i'm a huge Tennis fan, its on my bucket list to one day see a live match at Wimbledon, but i get the feeling tickets are hard to obtain, and if you do they are super expensive.
you have a lovely little study here. looks very stately.
and the crop composition is very symmetrical which makes it very easy on the eyes for us.
Imagine we could have a TE meeting at Wimbledon!!! haha
this photo made me smile. cheers
