Photographer's Note
After four years of severe drought and several wild fires California hit by four destructive El Nino storms in the past few days resulting in major flooding and mud slides. Some of the storms made it to Southern Nevada with record breaking rain (but "record breaking" is relative when it comes to the area). And the storms also produced some interesting and beautiful photographic opportunity.

It's a pity you needed El Niño to capture this dramatic photo. The clouds provide superb frames to the view of the hills, both above and below (or is is actually a dust-storm on the ground?). The colors are great but I imagine the fine light didn't last long.

Hi Eleu,
The principle of the third is respected the sky, the mountains and the valley. The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the clouds and of the mountains. El Nino is affecting the weather in my area, no snow for Christmas and rain expected for sunday. Have a nice day.

Hello Eleu, there are strange weather patterns all over the world at the moment.
This is very atmospheric with the heavy clouds approaching.
I like the mountains highlighted in the centre of your composition,sharp focus.

I'm sorry to hear about all the damage the storms did. This picture is indeed beautiful, the storm clouds envelop the rough looking mountain peaks wonderfully and the colours are very nice with a good warm/cold contrast.

Hello, a nice layered look to the mountains. The mist creates a lovely sense of drama. You must have used a long lens for this shot.
The storms have been short but intense and in California the mudslides are mainly due to the fires.
