Grand Canyon explorer John Wesley Powell believed the Paiute Indians called the North Rim area Kai-vav-wi (pronounced Kaibab), or "Mountains lying down"....
This is another North Rim view from the hiking trail near the Visitor Center.

Hi Ray, How good description- mountains lying down. It seems that the landscape of grand Canyon is mountainous but in fact, the area around is quite flat, only with this big long hole. Even being quite close to the rim, you do not expect what it will be the view. Wonderful colours, i am glad it is not b&w.

The Grand Canyon is wonderful for surre! I'm glad I could visit it (West and South Rim) and I'd love to go back there to visit the North Rim! For I while I enjoy your picture of it!
It seems that that Rim has more vegetation!

Good first September morning!
I can compare my thoughts before and after the visit of Grand Canyon in 2013. Today it is familiar place with a lot of positive emotions and good memories.
