Photographer's Note
Photographing dragonflies can be a very frustrating experience. First of all it's practically impossible to get decent shots of them as they are flying but secondly it is so easy to think all of your dragonfly photos are out of focus. Why? Because of the natural structure of their eyes it never looks like they are in focus. I have looked at dozens of close-up photos on the internet and have confirmed the "softness" of a dragonfly's eyes.
Canon 400mm f2.8 lens w/ 2x teleconverter.

Hi Greg
In spite of the dragonfly eye problem you mention in the note, this image looks wonderful with great amount of detail, perfect DOF and lovely blurred background. Square format suits the subject.
