Photographer's Note
The John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen, Colorado rests along the banks of the Roaring Fork River near downtown Aspen. His songs are etched into rocks.
"Small and large rocks, flower gardens, native grasses, waterfalls, streams, seats made from boulders, Theatre Aspen's new lobby area and a wooden bridge mark the location. At a cost of about $400,000, the sanctuary represents most of Phase I of the city's Rio Grande Park improvement project."(Aspen Times)
Denver and his first wife, Annie moved to Colorado in 1971 and made Aspen their home. The sanctuary is a tribute to an amazing and gifted musical artist.

Hi Karen,
I love most of John Denver Song, and Windsong is a really beautiful one, I listen to his CD through a big part of my road trip in Colorado last fall. It is very nostalgic and I can just listen and sometime sing a long and watch the scenery goes by. I wish I can go back and do it all over, listening to the song at home is just not the same. I was in Aspen, but didn't know about this. Good to see your shot of it.
If I could live anywhere else, I would want it to be Colorado.
Way
