Photographer's Note
Hello TE members,
I am including this photo of a marching band because it filled me with pride and humility for their story is a unique one. The 68th entry in the parade this year, 'Banda El Salvador' first participated in the Rose Parade in 2008. Due to a lack of funds their journey from their homeland was diffcult as they left their country on Christmas and traveled by bus for four days to arrive here in Pasadena to be a part of our parade. "Invited back this year, 'Banda El Salvador' was funded by 20 committees of Salvadorans in the U.S. and Canada who raised enough funds to fly 216 musicians, cheerleaders and folk dancers to Southern California to take part in the Parade and proudly represent their country and entertain the crowds,"(Rose Parade program). They embraced the theme of the parade and incorporated it in the drums.

Your close focus on the participants is spot on and what an explosion of colors with excellent clarity and gorgeous costumes. Their joyous atmosphere is the most important element that makes the shot attractive. Great festive moment well capture nicely. Wonderful photo, Congrats.

I love this shot. PArtly because of the story but mainly because of the great POV which fills the frame with those great drums in a line. The legs creating movement thourgh the shot too gives you a real sense of being there. Fantastic. Great moment captured.

A good idea to knee down so the drummers appear against the sky, not mixing with the viewer at the opposite side of the street.
Good perspective taken at the right moment.

I like your pov of those musicians! It's hard to photograph a parade with all those people but you did a wonderful job documenting the Rose Parade. I wish I had the patient to camp to view the festivity. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

Oh this is bringing back alot of personal memories for me :)
I used to play in a marching band, for 4 years in highschool...i played the trumpet.
as I"m looking at this photo, i feel as if i'm right along side the road.
colorful too :)
