Photographer's Note

During a recent trip to South America, my wife and my flight wound up getting delayed, forcing us to spend a day in Atlanta before being able to continue on to Chile. We decided to make the most of it by traveling the best way we know how: walking endlessly. It was a hot day (95 degrees F - around 35C), but there were plenty of people outside, especially in Atlanta's Centennial Park.

Centennial Park was created for the 1996 Summer Olympics, held in Atlanta. During the summer, it's a popular spot for office workers to take their lunch break, kids to cool down in some of the many fountains and wading parks, and camps to find good outdoor space. These kids, from one of the many camps, were playing a spirited game of soccer in the shadow of Atlanta's landmark cylindrical Westin Peachtree Plaza, Atlanta's 5th largest building, and one of the tallest all-hotel buildings in the world.
