Photographer's Note

Misty Fjords National Monument protects a substantial part of the Tongass National Forest from development and provides spectacular views of the effects of glaciation: deep fjords and vertical cliffs. Transient, spectacular waterfalls spill thousands of feet from snowmelt above and from rain which regularly saturates the area. This is the land of the brown bear and mountain goat which sometimes allow themselves to be seen from the cliffs and along the estuaries.
