Photographer's Note
The hike to Grinnell Glacier is about 11 miles round trip. On the way there, hikers can look down on Grinnell Lake. The spectacular turquoise color of this and other glacial lakes is thought to be due to ground up minerals called "rock flour." I tried to capture some of the brilliant wildflowers in the foreground, too. We didn't see any grizzlies on this trail - whew! - but saw evidence that they were there shortly after we passed.
