Photographer's Note
With just 1.5 hours to see Zion NP, Canyon Overlook Trail was a good excuse to get out of the car. A short hike (0.5 mi) leads to a platform overlooking some prominent features of the lower canyon.
A popular spot for sunset, it offers a spectacular westward view. There were more mountains in the distance and a curtain of light streamed through the gaps between the peaks towards the canyon floor. Too bad it's all white-washed here. (WS welcomed)
The switch-back is the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway. The main reason I took this shot was because it reminded me of sunrise over Machu Picchu. I'll dig up that photo and post it soon.
[Tech] PS7: Burned (Midtone,70%) most of the image to remove the haze, except the guy and the pale rock around his feet. USM
