Photographer's Note
The night before my first day at White Sands an unusual weather system had moved through resulting in an out of season monsoon (not to mention lightning, tornados, flash floods, etc.). Being very excited to photograph this area I was the first person into the park. I even arrived before the rangers, but had to wait. As a result of my early arrival I caught very unusual sights on my drive in thanks to left over rain water from the night before. With in an hour or two all the water present had evaporated. I thought this was a pretty neat scene. I hope you do too. Note: I learned on this trip that when the sand is wet it turns beige, but once it dries it turns white. Odd phenomenon.

Great scene with beautiful color of the sky. Wish it would be more sharp (or detail) on those clouds. Well done Jim.

Great shot! I thought the overall pic could use some more brightness, but it might start to wash out the sand (how did that get so bright in the lack of light?). Also, it might be me, but the shot looks maybe 1/2 degree tilted to the right.

Love the colors - rich, saturated, beautiful. The composition is very simple, but effective. Well done!

Jim, I have only one word to say - "WOW" what a fatastic scale of colors!!! This is one of the photos when I wonder why it didnt get more attention it certainly deserves. It looks great as thumbnail and even more fatastic bigger. You have been very lucky with the weather and light conditions. As this is not your first photo I rate, I will put you in my favourites :)L.

Hello Jim,
The simple things are often the best.
Another quiet moment well captured. Stunning colors and contrasts with superb reflections.
You have a talent to be at the right place at the right time.
Bravo!
Robert
