Photographer's Note
Kawuneeche Valley - Rocky Mountain National Park.
It was a cold snowy day here .. and that (and my last couple posts) had me searching for a bright summer image for today.
This shot is looking down into the valley after crossing over Trail Ridge road and the continental divide.
The Kawuneeche Valley is the center piece of the wilder Western side of Rocky Mountain National Park... The West side does not have the number of major hiking destinations as the East side ... and it is further from Denver and the front range cities so it makes for a quieter and wilder place ... Here you can hike along the Colorado River (knee deep at worst) at it begins the plunge that eventually passes through the Grand Canyon ..
Moose were reintroduced here and are doing very very well (and doing very well at avoiding my camera) .. The quiet valley eventually winds down to the fun little village of Grand Lake. ...
This photo survived in spite of me. I had just had my camera for a little while ... no real concept that maybe I should have used a different aperture than 5.6 ...

Beautiful view. The greens just jump out of this pic and the sharpness you have captured is really nice, even with the f/5.6. Thanks for sharing.

Hello John,
What a green valley is in your frame. This is spectacular. I like excellent texture of tens of thousands trees and their splendid colors. There must be a river or watery area at deep. Wonderful! Congratulations.

Hi John,
Another beauty, like the differing shades of green leading the valley floor.

Hallo John!
This one I like very much! Your point of view with these trees in the foreground gives an amazing depth to the photo. The shown scenery really is great and it shows pure nature. I think it must be fun to be a moose here...;-)
Thank you for showing this wonderful picture!

Hi John, I always love woodlands, I spent a lot of time Deer Stalking in and around the woods when that was my job, and in the winter when the Deer season was over I was a part time forester felling spruice trees that had been planted on the Estate, we had to clear all the Hill Burns to let the light back in as the Salmon Parr could not live in the burns any more as there was no fly life left because of the lack of light, I used to feel right at home in there as there would be 6 or seven of us and we would have to burn the felled timber, so the tea brakes round the fire were good crack.
It a Fine photo with a good DOF to it and realy shows us a real forest!! that is one pile of trees with a lovely Glen Strath or what ever you call it over there? down in the bottom it seems very deserted down there, Great POV DOF COMP colour what more can we ask for, Well done

Hello John,
Wow, this is what I call a great POV! This place seems to be so nice! I like this DOF, even if you could have used a smaller aperture to bring out more details and the exposure and colors are good. Well done and good luck next time with Moose ;)

Nice peaceful valley & vegetation. I like way you use the top right branch to frame and complete the picture.

Hi John, Amazing view!
Really great POV, I like how you've chosen your place so that this branch of a pinetree is hanging over. Really have the feeling of being on high altitude when I look at this shot. What adds to this feeling is that I can see tops of trees very close by! The valley seems real nice, nice green tones, good sharpness and some nice clouds in the sky to add just something extra. One of your best I think!
Well done!

I like how the branch it the upper right hand corner breaks up the view just a little. It also gives me the feeling of standing under a tree for shade. I like that. The view is spectacular. I have only been to this park in autumn, so it's nice to see how green it is in summer. Great shot.

Hi John:
This is a nice shot of a long sloping valley. I'm with you--I think a sunny picture is in order after all the snow I've seen recently. Your colors are great, and you've done a good job of eliminating the haze that would normally be present in such a vast view. Well done.

Hi John,
what a stunning view! I love the vastness, the sharpness, the colours and the sky. And the trees in the foreground, both the bottom and the upper right corner, make an interesting frame worth mentioning.
TFS!
