Photographer's Note
Lyons Overlook Spring
Roxborough State Park - Just South of Denver, Colorado
Roxborough is a park of large red rock "fins" .. very similar to "Garden of the Gods" park in Colorado Springs.
My favorite place in Roxborough Park is the Lyons Overlook .. My first time here in Spring .. I was pretty impressed ..
There is a person on the path for scale : )
See the theme on the left for this same view in November and February.

Hmmm...well...as usual, great lighting. Great colors and "contrasty" colors. The one thing I would have liked to see is the tree on the right entirely in the photo or cut out altogether. A very good "American West" landscape photo.

Bonjour John,
I like a lot the light you caught in this one.
Contrasts are superb, and there are nice geometrics too, with good use of natural curves.
Regards,
JB.

Hi John.
Beautiful colours and a great POV. It's a pitty the cloud came over so strong at that moment. Sometimes cloud shadows are great, but I feel this darkens the foreground a little too much. Maybe you could lighten the foreground or maybe you have another image where the cloud moved away a little. Still a beautiful shot and a great location. Lovely colours. TFS.
Regards, Steve.

You're getting some really great colours and attractive views from this place John. Maybe a shift of POV slightly to the right. Nice work again.

Hi John,
I understand why this one is your favorite place, because is amazing how the rocky formations emerge from the earht, its tilt is quite impressive, and the exuberant vegetation is a background perfect for the color of mountains. The cloudy sky is too very beautiful. Only one little little regret: it seems that the vegetation in the foreground has something strange, perhaps its out of focus. Anyway, the shot is marvellous! Congratulations.
Regards,
Angel.

Olá John, looking at the other photos of this place, I can see that it is a most beautiful park. The contrast of the green vegetation with those redish rocks is fantastic, but what impressed me the most here, is the detail of the person that you refered in the note, otherwise I wouldn't notice him. He is so tiny in there!!!!
Great POv and composition.
Best wishes,
ricardo

Hello John,
This is a lovely overview of the area captured in your earlier Roxborough III photo. A well composed and impecably exposed shot of the rugged country, with a rarified population. We were in the area just south of Colorado Springs,Manitou Springs near the Garden of the Gods. The rock formation there, I thought, resembled these rocks somewhat. (But that is probably farther south than Roxborough State Park).
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi John,
I love the light and shadow play here. The way you captured such excellent detail in the rock and clouds in spite of varying light levels shows your excellent light management. HLJ, Pat

Hello John,
This apperars to be just the right time of year to photograph Roxborough. The fall colors with the scrub oak are beautiful but the angle of the Sun is a lot different then. The lighting in your series of this park is perfect. An excellent view with great depth and even though I have been to this park your prespective is unique. Good work!

I had a job finding the path; never mind the person! The scale is vast. I like the way you composed it with the rocks and pine on the right, both of which give added depth. Well done

Hi John, always fascinate me these brown rocks they spring from the green invironment.
The light, the play between shadow and bright details are great.
Cheers

Hi John,
Excellent us of light gives this image wonderful contrasting shades and colors. The details to the red rocks are very sharp and I also love the lone scrub pine tree on the far right.

Hi John,
I liked the shiny view on the red hills. thanks for taking our attention to the person walking on the path, othervise it is almost impossible to recognize it. It is like a puzzle :)
Your theme about the different seasons of the same place is a brilliant idea. Congratulations! :)

Hi John, you really don't take a break. You post without a single break. Quite impressive! What is even more impressive that all the images are always strongly captivating. I like this piece of nature a lot and can imagine easily how it impressed you.
Thanks for that person on the path. I can't see him/ her at all and that is a good reference because it gives the idea of being a huge place ;-)
The colors are well balanced, but I wonder that it seems to be a little bit soft in the lower portion of the image. Why?

Hi John!
I see you have taken several different perspectives. I like this one also, it gives a good idea of how it is behind the rocks. The sunlight reflecting on the rocks is also great. Nice theme!

Hello John
The play of light & shade again! Wonderful! The red colour of the rocks & their incline IMO helps the beauty. Contrast of colours is very good..I certainly would have missed the person had you not mentioned..fantastic!

hello John,
Splendid mountain of which I appreciate the pink colors.
This mixture of rocks and greenery is superb and very esthetics.
I would like to discover this place
I like much the tormented aspect of the place: the stretched clouds and the twisted tree reinforces this impression.
Very beautiful.
