Photographer's Note
Hello TE friends,
this trail follows around Dog Lake for an enjoyable hike high up in the eastern sierras. Dog Lake is in Tuolemne Meadows, the eastern portion of Yosemite Nartional Park. The lake is at an elevation of 9,240 ft. and the hike from Tioga road is 2.8 miles round trip so it is considered an easy hike if you don't mind the altitude. In late August, the wildflowers are gone and the grasses have turned golden and bronze. This is a very popular hike in Tuolemne Meadows and is near Lembert Dome.
The lake is ringed by evergreens and granite mountains with Mt. Dana and Mt. Gibbs behind it. This lake was "named Dog Lake because in 1898, Robert Marshall of the US Geological Survey visited and found an abandoned sheepdog with a litter of puppies" there.(www.nps.gov/yosemite)

Howdy Karen,
Indian Summer and a fine view within Tuolumne Meadows high country, and obviously not crowded.
Good comparison with the majestic evergreens and the golden grasses, leading the eye towards the lake's edge.
Must be very toasty there? One hundred degrees today in Sacramento.

This is a beautiful place for a hike.
Beautiful scene with gorgeous autumn colors. The eye wanders nicely along the path to the distant trees and the beautiful sky.

Hi Karen,
Excellent late summer colors. I like the composition with the narow trail across the colorfull meadow leading to the green forest. The part of the lake and the blue sky add nice atmosphere to this beautiful photo. Have a nice day.

Pity that few people have responded by this picture,
while many have looked. Beautiful surrounding, very
nice warm and bright colors and a great point of
view and composition: the "path creates a nice
depth, the picture is nice calmness. The vertical
position emphasize extra the depth...good work.

Hello Karen,
I love National Parks and your shot caught my attention. It is beautiful picture taken in late summer with grasses turned golden and bronze. Great composition with trail leading to the lake and forest.
Good quality photo with nice colors, light and sharpness. Very interesting note.
