Photographer's Note
A nostalgic memory of "The Seven Year Itch".
In about the year 2000, I took a group of Media Studies students from my college in England on a “field visit” to Los Angeles, to see the film studios and other vaguely Media-related destinations. All right: a holiday. We stayed in Venice Beach, and did the media stuff, but also had a couple of days of general sight-seeing. On one of these days, our mini-bus driver took us up to the Griffith Observatory, an art deco landmark built in 1935, actually very near Universal Studios. For the view! One of our little projects was to shoot some fashion-style photographs. Several of the students (both female and male) obliged as models, and here is one of them. The day was quite windy, and the poor girl was trying to hold her dress down. Not very successfully. She was a good sport and saw the funny side of the incident, as you can see. Now more than twenty years later, I feel it’s OK to let the cat out of the bag (she didn’t mind at the time the image being shown in the exhibition of our trip when back in college). The view from the Observatory was great! But I’m not confident about the Moderators’ response...

Hi Will,I think the moderators do not say anything, also because maybe they are not there they do not care anything about this site, so thank you for this memory from your trip to the studios 22 years ago, and indeed the photo recalls the famous scene of Marylin with the wind coming out of the underground manholes, great shot and perfect timing. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Will
Given the aim of the project the subject it is a fine and suitable photo (which I wasn't sure about when I first looked).

Funny view and good title about the famous Marilyn ... well timed with the wind effect, good angle also, tfs.

Hello Will,
It's a slightly unusual photo on TE, but actually anything from you is unusual these days. It's kind of funny, and if she was okay with it I am too. It's in any case well timed.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Will,
Well I like this photo, but possibly for the wrong reason. Good timing, and good exposure (seems an appropriate term here) under harsh light conditions. It is certainly reminiscent of that famous image of Marilyn Monroe.

Hello Will,
This is certainly a Marilyn Monroe moment, very well captured from which ever angle you wish to concentrate upon!
It's so full of fun and if the young lady was happy to have it posted there isn't a problem!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Will,
That's no wonder with such a flimsy dress! Interesting place and funny scene. As the photo shoot was arranged (just like with Marilyn) I see no problem with that.

Hi Will
Obviously the moderators didn't have a problem with this upload and the lady-model definitely looks like she can see the funny side of the whole thing.
Well done on timing and capturing this Marilyn Monroe moment.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi Will
Good to see a new post from you. I was going to say a good upward pov but under the circumstances that's probably a poor choice of words. The warm skin tones of her legs contrast well with the blue sky. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!
