Postcard from Los Angeles, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

This is one of my favorite points of view to downtown LA. It is from a tiny square in front of the Yamashiro Restaurant which is in the walking distance from Hollywood Blvd. Even if so close from main touristic attractions in Hollywood it is quite often missed by tourists. It is pretty hard to reach by foot because you would need to follow a narrow path which has one way traffic and as you may have heard the cars have the right of way in LA :) But if you get there by car it is not much easier either: since 6 years or so Yamashiro Restaurant introduced a gate which limits access to the viewpoint. However if you ask nicely at the gate that you just want to admire the view they will let you in. You have to leave your car in the valet parking but the tip is up to you. If you don't visit restaurant they will give you about 10 minutes. Even if the people are very kind I did feel stressed out. Unfortunately I arrived too late for the blue hour, the day was very foggy and there was some construction going on which obstructed the view as you can see.

Witaj Mariusz,
a panoramic view of LA from this downtown point.Very nice the nocturne shot with the skyscrapers on the background and the clarity and the sharpness to be the most important points of the foreground.I like the good management of the lighting conditions, as the way that the light is enchasing the colours.

HI Mariusz, I like the view too. It is the real life view of a hige and busy city. I like the tone of the sky, as you say, possibly caused by pollution and construction occurring. The image has great depth, sharpness and colour. Great job, TFS and enjoy your weekend, Lisa

fotografija, kise jo lahko imenuje z veliko začetnico!(FOTOGRAFIJA) inje prava za razglednico. všeč mi je izjemna ostrina in tudi barve. nekoliko pogrešam več podatkov, ker se na tak način tisti, ki nismo preveč vešči fotografije lahko naučimo od svojih velikih bratov - (vzornikov). Hi M,

I have live in Southern California for half of my life now. I have never tried very hard to phtograph LA. There are actually lots to do and photographic subject. I really should make a point to do it. Pretend I'm a tourist from out of town :) This is a very cool night shot of Downtown LA, one of the most recorgnizable view of City of Angles.

Hello Mariusz,
Thousands of light-bulbs brought here a magnificent city-scape at night, I am sure a daylight photo would look less impressive due to the prevailing smog above this town.
Long exposure sure made the colors stand good contrast to the darkness.
