Photographer's Note
Mono Lake, located in Northern California's High Sierra is one of North America's oldest lakes. This inland sea is a nesting ground for migratory birds who feed on the lake's brine shrimp. The formations in the middle of the shot are called tufa. They are composed of calcium carbonate.

You got a very refreshing morning picture of Mono Lake here, Dan. It is quite special to have the soft red colors of the iluminated mountains in the background as a fuzzy reflection in the less iluminated foreground.
The picture is obviously tilted to the right and I did a WS to correct this.

Hi Dan - fantastic light, great timing, I love this place, the sky is also very attractive, I'm surprised to see so little snow on the Sierra in may, the workshop brings out the potential.

Hi
The picture is tilted but it doesn't bother me at all. The original is better than the workshop you made - it's oversharpenned.
I like the colour of the rocks and the reflection. The area is beatiful, one day I'll visit California for longer.
Take care

Hi Dan,
I've carefully looked at all your reflection shots, and for sure this one deserves the first place. The colours of the mountains and the sky are simply stunning. Congratulations and thanks for posting. Dario

The play of the light on the background mountains, combined with their reflexions on the lake, make ofthis picture a very nice one. The framing is good andthe other colors too. If it wasn't for the tilt impression towards the right, I believe it would have been even better.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hello Dan,
You've submitted two photos simultaneously! What a magnificent reflection in this masterpiece. Ansel Adams would have been proud of this photo. The composition and colors, the exposure and sharpness are ideal. The only aspect I might experiment with -- only because you have such a lovely image -- is in the aspect ratio. If you were to crop it to 500x800 pixel aspect ratio, you would achieve the 1:1.618 of the 'golden ratio.' The problem would be to decide how best to crop the height?!?
The alternative would be to choose a vertical configuration, include the grass at the bottom and make the photo 800 pixels high by 500 pixels wide. It may surprise us both. I cannot do a WS, but the density of pixels would be lost. But you could do that in the original photo.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Dan,
Beautiful foreign colors found reflecting in this strange place. Interesting POV that has caught the detail of rock formations in the lake and the distant peaks of this brimey lake.

Hi Dan, You've captured wonderful color in the mountains, The reflection doubles the pleasure.
Since we're having a TE meeting in this area the first weekend in in June, we're doing a theme about the area to let people know what's there to photograph. Hope to see you there to share some of your favorite spots to photograph.
Wishing you Health, Love & Joy (HLJ) in the New Year, Pat
