Photographer's Note
Allways stay in front of your friends if you are hikeing and you want to catch something with your camera. I just turned the cornor on the trail and there he was. By the time my friends came he was long gone.
I was at near max zoom and without a try/mono pod
Not as sharp as I would of liked, I need to get my D10 soon, with my 500mm lens I would not have a prob.
Gualala is a town on the coast of california 3 hours north of S.F. You must come and see the place, you might not leave. Hotel california.

Very Nice looks like you got him just in time. Deers are so timid, its hard to get their photo unless they are very far away.
The slight blur is understandable because of the zoom. I have similar problems with my camera as well, when I zoom to max, the subject although nice and big is a bit blurred and you have to do post processing to sharpen it up.
