Photographer's Note

Sedona's main attraction is its stunning array of red sandstone formations, the Red Rocks of Sedona. The formations appear to glow in brilliant orange and red when illuminated by the rising or setting sun. The Red Rocks form a breathtaking backdrop for everything from spiritual pursuits to the hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails. The early settlers were farmers and ranchersMost of the development seen today was constructed in the 1980s and 1990s. Population estimate for 2008, 12,000.
Sedona is a very popular location for international conventions and assemblies.

My first visit to Sedona was about 25 years ago, and it was a small village, but now a very vibrant tourist mecca with probably more foreign visitors than USA type. I have posted several shots from Sedona .. I just returned from 5 days in that area of which 4 days were in Sedona. This is one of several dozen rock formations that have been assigned a name or label. Bell Rock is also used by hikers and people who believe in experiencing the effect of a vortex. The latter believe that this is an energy that has different influences on one at different times. i.e. a feeling of extra energy, spinning sensation etc. I have no idea about it.
