Photographer's Note

edona's main attraction is its stunning array of red sandstone formations, the Red Rocks of Sedona. The formations appear to glow in brilliant orange and red when illuminated by the rising or setting sun. The Red Rocks form a breathtaking backdrop for everything from spiritual pursuits to the hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails. The early settlers were farmers and ranchers. Oak Creek Canyon was well-known for its peach and apple orchards. In 1902 the Sedona post office was established. Most of the development seen today was constructed in the 1980s and 1990s. Population estimate for 2008, 12,000.

My first visit to Sedona was about 25 years ago, and it was a small village, but now a very vibrant tourist mecca with probably more foreign visitors than USA type. I have posted two other shots from Sedona and they all contain the red rock. I just returned from 5 days in that area of which 4 days were in Sedona. This is one of the many shots I took, but I have also taken more pictures of something other than red rock on this last visit, which I will be posting.
