This is a really interesting shot Hugh. At first it's hard to see what's going on - I thought it was a reflection, but the clarity of the child and the details in the background rule that out.
Amazing explosion of water, radiating like a crown from the boy's head.
Remarkable work, well done.

Hi Hugh, this is one of the most bizarre shots I've seen in a long time. It has a very surreal mood - especially the way the boys hands are held almost in suplication, bowing his head in reverence to that great lump of granite. Love that little white building nestling in the gap. Fine composition, but not 100% convinced about the B&W conversion - but then I'm no expert so who am I to say. Looking forward to no.2.

This is an incredible shot. The composition and B&W treatment is impressive. The splash of water, the position of the boy, the tree and street lamp, all create a surreal feeling... Very imaginative!

I love your "fountain of youth" series Hugh. This is one is still my most favourite. This is one of those rare pictures where everything is just right.Bbesides the obvious spectacle, even the lamp and the the traingular roof of the house in the back are added bonus. How come you don't have "decisive moment" in the genre?

So many fragments in your book Hugh, so many...
Fragments of life, some real, some surreal, fragments of light and faces, fragments looking so easily captured, but evidences of a deeply searching, observative eye, an eye which has some aesthetic values of other dimensions, compelling and not so easily surrendering aesthetic readings. Why so late in your gallery, though my eyes were on your work for such a long time? Cause you have photos which i find too difficult to make any comments, mostly a too personal approach, difficult to seep through and resolve. You are from the photographers genre who has rejected sunsets, landscapes and cute faces long time ago. And i've mostly been feeling myself closer to those easier-to-read kinds of photography, as i am only one year old in this bussiness. But day by day, photo by photo, i feel myself getting closer to that difficult type, it became more and more appealing to me. Thus, i feel i have collected some words for your photos since then, and must say that i find them much more interesting than brightly taken breathtaking sunsets.
This one, with its sheer beauty and craziness, attracted me firstly while wandering in your gallery. I say craziness, because i see someone smashing his head, blood and brain shattering everywhere, rather than a kid playing with water.
A photo, which is obviously taken by someone who knows what he is doing. Appreciated...
