Photographer's Note
Another vestige of the local history of Saint Thomas is found on a hill in the small town of Charlotte Amalie. An old fortified tower (17th century).
From the top of this watchtower, Danish guards once scanned the sea horizon. One feared the attack of a foreign armada but also the attack of belligerent pirates, the famous pirates of the Caribbean.
One remained particularly famous, Edward Teach by his real name, but much better known by the nickname Blackbeard. Moreover, this defensive tower was named after its name, in English, Blackbeard's castle.
The premises are now intended for a much less warlike use, transformed into a luxurious residence with breathtaking views of the entire bay.

The tower looks like something out of Italy or Corse. It provides a great contrast to the houses around it. Good composition.

Hello Jean,
This must be the very pinnacle of desire, to have a tower, once a pirate lookout, with fantastic views of the bay, as your residence! There is only one! No-one can better this residence!! It makes a very strong, unusual, focal point, among the terracotta roofed houses.
Your clarity is a little soft, easy to remedy in PS or some similar programme.

Toutes les maisons sont magnifiquement situées, un peu cachées entre la verdure.
Et au sommet de la colline, nous trouvons le château de l'infâme Blackbeard.

Hello Jean,
A very nice view of the old tower in the middle, surrounded by the much more modern roofs of the houses. The bright orange colours stand out well from the green trees and the darker background. Well done.

Intriguing how they blend harmoniously together - thanks to your infor notes, the vintage tower really stands above the rest and holds the focus of attention.
