Photographer's Note
I thought I had posted this photo a few years ago, but obviously not.
Brenda has posted a photo or two, i'm sure of it.
This is the Seated Ballerina, a 45 foot tall inflatable Ballerina, directly infront of the iconic Rockefeller Building in Manhattan.
Its one of those surprise moments, I had no idea this was on display when I visited. So to see her towering over people in front of a huge sky scraper, I was super excited to get some shots.
My next post will be from another completely different angle, for now lets start with this pose. In the WS is a close up shot, I could post more in the WS but I don't want to spoil my next upload.

Hi Craig
The giant seated ballerina statue is massive! I like the repetition and colour of the flags at left also. Superb tight framing and sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Craig,
Maybe Brenda showed this, but I really don't remember seeing this amazing "sculpture" before. I wonder if it's permanently placed here. You might have added it was made by Jeff Koons, who is quite famous for this kind of sculptures. I posted one of his works I saw in a museum in Porto of The Hulk, which looked inflatable but was actually made of bronze. This is very kitschy, in a deliberate way, but it's so over the top that it's really beautiful.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Craig,
Wow! This is like something from fantasy, like Alice in Wonderland!
Your composition is superb! The positioning of the ballerina makes us notice her expression, her shiny torso, the lines of her limbs and we cannot help but wonder about her relationship with the b/g of flags and skyscrapers!
I love it!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Craig,
An imposing photo of this giant 3D cartoon character. The sculpture appears huge from your point of view, as indeed it is. If it was a small statuette it would be pretty kitsch, but at this scale it becomes surreal. The line of flags at the bottom is a nice and colorful touch.

Hi Craig,
The flags are eyecatching. The point of view is showing the details of the sculpture of the Seated Ballerina. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
One of the most beautiful panorama views with statue, take a seat, the woman sit.
Nice colours in background with all flags
An excellent depth and perspective image too.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hi Craig,
With this angle and background it would be impossible to guess the size of this piece of art. That shiny material looks really good. And patchy light created by window reflections looks good on the walls too. Excellent angle.

Hello Craig, what a lovely surprise to come upon this enormous inflated ballerina.
A very good viewpoint where you look upwards, and the light highlights the plastic material.
The skyscrapers and the flags are a good contrasting background.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Craig,
What a nice surprise, and what a great photo! I really like this POV. The ballerina looks so wistful and real. I also like the flags at her feet. I do have a photo of her in my gallery, taken from the opposite direction. (on page six in case anyone would like to view it!) Waiting to see what you post next... Take care!

Hello Craig,
2017 was a year when we didn't visit New York (we were in Vancouver after all :-)), so we missed this inflatable ballerina. You captured her from an excellent angle and used the iconic architecture of Rockefeller Center as a great backdrop.

Hello Craig, This inflatable ballerina is a bit kitschy but the composition is very attractive. She was not there when I was in NYC. great picture.

Bonjour, cher Craig,
Voilà une ballerine qui prend de la hauteur, et, pourtant, elle ne fait pas les pointes ! ;o)
Impressionnant et original.
Amitiés.

Hello Craig,
This is a beautiful balloon-Balerina statue, colorful and almost looks as real metalic sculpture. Contrasting well onto the high-rise bulding so typical sight in NY.
Fine position with the flags and trees included.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hello Craig,
Thanks to the many flags I recognised the square in front of the Rockefeller Building but I cannot remember seeing the Seated Ballerina.
A very elegant 'statue'.
Good choice of point of view and excellent composition.

Well-seen, superb crop and creative pov in both photos. I really like the flags in colours conveniently matching the ballerina's dress and chair and the pattern made of windows in the background.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Craig
Why do I think of Cinderella's dazzling glass shoes and the mishap when she left the ballroom in a hurry!!
Thanks for this beautiful view on fantasia.

Hi Craig,
I think I prefer classical ruins then kitschy inflatable monuments, ha ha
But of course I am curious to photograph everything what people are displaying in their world.
In the miniature this ballerina looked quite charming, but when you look closer the kitsch jumps to your eye. I don't think it is that apparent even in Las Vegas.
Having said that you did a great job presenting it from very interesting angles. The buildings around were perfectly used to provide a fantastic context.
Very creative reportage,
M
