Photographer's Note
DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. The couple on the picture is actually walking under the Manhattan Bridge, with Brooklyn Bridge and downtown Manhattan view in the back. I find this a fasinating, but also a rather strange place - full of large semi-empty industrial and warehouse buildings, old brick road pavement and rail-road tracks sticking out here and there. Definitely under-populated, although popular among artists and students (cheap rent?).

You really captured the neighborhood feel. Actually, DUMBO isn't so cheap anymore. The developers made it affordable to artists only long enough to attract wealthy interest and to develop luxury lofts with river views. As you head East (closer to where you took this shot) it gets more industrial and rough.
My only complaint is that I feel your framing choice is excessive. The perimeter of shadow frames the image well on its own.

Superbe ! j'adore votre photo, le contraste entre le premier plan et le fond est saisissant. Les silhouettes du couple sont très bien mis en valeur. vous avez fait du très beau travail. félicitations

Just found your gallery. I like the atmosphere in all your shots. The B&W conversion is nicely done with a good range of tones. I like the choice of exposure rendering the contrast between the harsh burnt out sky, and the shadows (silhuettes) on the foreground. Good work.

Yes, it's a strange area, and the proximaty of Manhattan, as you've caught it in this shot, serves to accentuate it's oddness. Great shot which catches the mood of the place perfectly. I suppose you couldn't have done much about the lamppost. Points tomorrow.

All of your 5 pics are very nice, but this one seems to me the best. Maybe because it is the least "manerist" one - you did not play on that IMHO cheap trick with colored objects and BW surroundings.
I would clone out that wire (cable) crossing the background building in upper right-hand corner, it looks like dirt or scratch. And dont understand what is that brighter area (blurred tree? your handwork?) around the girls head, but it might by clearer in a larger version.
I highly value animation of sites by human figures even when a photo would work also without it. You do it nicely.

Great picture capturing a mood in NYC. I like the black and white here.

Fantastic Sergei, a high quality work indeed. Those buildings far away, almost invisible..That couple in silluete. All composition is perfect. Love it!

Very attractive work Sergei!
I really enjoy this beautiful image. Especially the dark framing around the lighter & softer vanishing background with the layers of different tones of gray.
The double silhouette on the left stands precisely well. I would only regret that man on the right, but how to avoid him without missing the couple?
I hope you won't mind when adding this image to my favourite B&W theme...
