Photographer's Note
Intimate Grandeur. This was taken in a rarely visited side valley off trail in the Everest region of Nepal. I used a 3 stop neutral density filter to even the exposure between the lake and the reflection. The glow on the peaks is reflected from the brightly lit horizon after sunset.

I'm not a fan of graduated ND filters due to their 'unnatural' look, but your image is quite striking. Its clarity helps explain why all revelations in history and literature take place on mountaintops. Thanks for bringing me to the magical place.

Hi Michael,
This is a stunning view with amazing light control and wonderful reflections. I just read the book entitled, "Into thin Air", a record of the disastrous 1996 Everest climbing season during which there was much loss of life on Everest - a disturbing but excellent read. TFS. Gerald

very nice picture, but I miss something at the bottom of the composition sticking out of the water, in that case it would be perfect, one point absolutely deserved:-)

Wow! I didn't even know that there is a lake in that region. The clarity is amazing. Is that the fog or a cloud beneath the mountain?
Congrats.

Yeah, maybe a shark sticking out of the water, yeah, that would be nice to complete the scene:)))
I really do know that it's not so common to see so perfect and so still reflection in nature, but for the next time, please get the shark:)))
2 points absolutely deserved.

An excellent picture with a great mood.
The perfect reflection of the mountains (Ama Dablan ?) on the lake is very beautiful.
Is this the Gokyo lakes area ? I don't think so. Maybe a detour near the italian CNR glass pyramid ?
I have been to Khumbu valley years ago, and it is still in my heart.

A magnificent landscape shot, a very fine example of its type. The reflection is amazing, of course, and the details below the water make the foreground interesting. The ND filter has worked a marvel here. Wonderful light on the snow and the sky tones are fantastic.
A wonderful photo.

Hi Michael,
How have I missed you on here up to now?!?!? This photo, like many of your other images, is fantastic and the detail and clarity is exemplary. You really get it when it comes to keeping your images simple and this is not exception. The composition of the mountains and reflection along with the subtle foreground are outstanding. This photo did not need an obvious near/far construct for context. At first I thought you must be doing large format by the detail but then I saw the camera. 22MP mate! Put to good use here. Very impressive and a standard I aspire to achieve.
Cheers!

It could be the perfect reflexion. Sharpness, colors... but ligh on the moutain top is darker than on the reflect, wich is almost burnt. But this remains an excellent photo.
