History of the ground in this area.
When millions of years later, the first farmers came to settle in our regions, as soon proved that a large portion of non-suggested much the soils with shallow tertiary agricultural. Soil exhausted and lost during the Middle Ages evolved near the Donk and large parts of Maldegem to vast moors, which were littered with dozens of ponds; here and made barren, degraded forests scenic variety. The economically inferior lands were a refuge for outcasts, who for centuries led a miserable existence

personally, i love these frosty mornings.
we can see the frost on the frozen grassy field.
the star bust sun is fantastic and the sky has various colour tones to give a vibrant mood. nice shot

Good choice to place the sun off-center, John, allow fine vast area of the frozen field with good depth and clarity.
handled well the strong sun-light, though I never try this technique - too careful about the sensor's health.

Hello John,
You made the sun look like in a perfect drawing by a child with the light radiating in every direction. It is very eye-catching and attractive. The light and mild colours are generally very appealing and falling very nicely on the ground, and with a fine haze in the distance. I like very much the fence going towards the lonely tree under the sun.

Opnieuw een mooi werk uit het archief. De stralen van de zon zijn magnifiek. Ik vind ook die ene eenzame boom heel mooi en hoe het land bijna zw/w lijkt.

Wel jammer dat de precieze plaatslocatie de laatste soms wegvalt als je foto's oplaadt. Bij mij is dit soms ook het geval. Je kan het eventueel later nog aanvullen, maar het is wel een gedoe.

Knappe post opnieuw. Proficiat & geniet van je weekend, John.

Very beautiful panoramic of this plain, with the winter mist, sensationally realized the star effect of the sun, which gives a great charm to the image, the fence with stakes that ends in the tree gives a beautiful perspective.

Het lijkt erop dat we komende week weer soortgelijke wintergezichten zullen zien met blauwe luchten en bevroren velden, maar voorlopig moeten we het nog doen met nattesneeuwbuien hier. Heel mooi landschap en de zon ziet er hier echt uit als een perfecte ster.

Hello John,

There is so much to like about this photograph!
The huge winter sun, resembling some silver star, is obviously the main attraction in the pale, blue sky but beneath it is a very well composed, winter landscape.
I like how the ditch and its lone tree, act as a very effective pointer to the sun, whilst the low mist and the silvery hoar frost evoke a cool, mysterious atmosphere.

Hallo John,
De zon lijkt hier zowat een reusachtige ster, als die ster die de drie koningen naar Bethlehem leidde. Maar dit is hier dan wel een dagopname.
Heel mooi met de rijm op de weiden en met de mist net voor de bomen verder weg.
De paaltjes en de lijnen in de weide brengen mooi enkele diagonale lijnen op het beeld.
Kijkend naar deze lucht, denk ik dat het vrij koud was toen je deze foto nam.

Greetings John,

You have some lovely tones on the ground and a nice. low horizon. Also some nice tones in the sky to avoid uniformity. The starburst is a nice idea, but in my own opinion is just a bit too perfect. A great shot, Iain.

This is a supreme shot of portraying how powerful the sunlight is by occupying 60 percent of the sky
