Photographer's Note
This small balcony with its solitary chair was a cool and peaceful spot for sitting and watching the world go by.
Şirince is a beautiful, rural hill town close to Ephesus. It's famous for its olive oil, wine and fruit orchards, quaint houses and rural lifestyle.
It was formerly inhabited by Ottoman Greeks and named Kırkınca ("Forty-ish"), which the locals pronounced Çirkince, which means "sort of ugly" (which it certainly is not).
After the exchange of populations following World War I, Turks from Greece were moved here. They changed the name to Şirince (shee-REEN-jeh, "sort of sweet, charming").
Some say the Orthodox Christian Greeks who lived here formerly were famed for the excellence of their wine. Others say the Muslim Turks who moved here pretty much started the wine trade, but in any case production has been continued (or re-started), and you can taste the results and judge for yourself when you visit. They sell red, white and rosé, dry and sweet.
Besides grape wines, the locals sell many fruit wines, including apple, apricot, banana, blackberry, blueberry, creamberry, mulberry (black, and white), mandarin orange, melon, orange, peach, quince, sour (Morello) cherry and strawberry.

Hello,
Good idea, this bookmark frame with this composition. It works nicely with a right balance between the chair and the balcony opening behind.
Yves.

Dear Rosemary, this is one of my favorite photos today! I really like your composition (although I think it would have been nice to include the whole of the lamp) and I like what you've done to it (bookmark format). Well done and thank you for sharing! Sincerely, Anne-Sophie

Hello Rosemray,
A vertical format well selected and a creative POV very efficience. The ardace of the widow give a graphic framing nad too depht to the image. Beautiful managment of light with an interesting contrast indoor/outdoor.
Best regards,

Hello Rosemary,
This place sounds like an alcoholic's dream come true! Perhaps sticking to the olive oil might be a bit safer, if a little fattening. But I bet that the grub in this part of the World is pretty good too.
This is a lovely picture and well suited to the vertical format which, nowadays, appears here to have gained the title of "bookmark". But this photograph would have been a real challenge to the most accomplished of photographers: the difference in light levels without and within the building must have been enormous but you have coped very well with this.
Beautiful colours, perfect exposure, great composition and, as usual, stunning sharpness.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Rosemary,
I like very much this photo, and its format. It seems to be the place of somebody who cannot move any more and who contemplates the world since its window. The outside landscape is attractive. The exposure of the photo is excellent. Bravo.
Have a nice day

Hello Rosemary, This sounds like a nice place to visit in more ways than one :) Nice & effective composition, I like the fact that although we can see the orchads & maybe vineyards through the opening at a distance the empty chair tells me a different story, just a thought. A beautiful image with the difficult light well handled.
