Mola di Bari
Comprising approximately twenty-five thousand inhabitants of the metropolitan city of Bari, it is located along the Adriatic Sea coast 20 km southeast of the capital. Its fishing port is one of the most important in the region.
Reflected by Carlo I d'Angiò in 1277 on an older settlement, consisting of small human communities, which gathered around the caves that open at the edge of the many blades that slope the perimeter of the coastline. The blades, in addition to ensuring a breakthrough in fresh water, served as communication routes and hiding places in the case of pirate attacks and raids, offering more guarantees than an urban agglomeration.
