The Golden Ladder
Since 15 September 2008, another impressive feature has been added to the Duisburg skyline: the 65 metre Golden Ladder construction that protrudes from the glass roof of the Forum Duisburg at its main entrance in Königstraße. The ladder reaches all the way from the underground parking level up through the shopping levels to a height of about 54 meters above street level. It extends about 35 meters above the Forum Duisburg roof.

This ladder was made from 32 tonnes of steel that were then covered by 25,000 leaves of 24-carat gold leaf. It was manufactured and assembled by the company Maurer Söhne, specialist structural steel engineers from Munich, Germany. The Golden Ladder was designed by two artists from Munich, Johannes Brunner and Raimund Ritz.
