i totally agree with will that at first glance, it looks a bit tim burton-ish, but for me, that only adds to the appeal.

the burned out sun is very cool and the pov is great ~ much more interesting to see this from the perspective of the fish :)

hi russ. was this on the page? i don't remember seeing it, so i take this one as a surprize. i like kristin's interpretation of fish's POV, i couldn't put it better and in a more imaginative way. this is a crazy counterlight photo with a crazy vantage point even gone crazier with your 10mm ultra wide. the result has a power of carrying this artwork to an enigmatic status, it now looks like a fancy communist statue worshipping "fishermen of people". i like the cloud at the right bottom corner, it is so useful to fill a gap. that mysterious haze around the sun is also a definite killer.

Hi Russ,

You've really come back with a tour de force! Boy oh boy, doe's this ever have some kind of 'wow' factor! With this kind of perspective and composition, this could have been nothing more than a lump of coal, which gets transformed into a diamond by a shot of this nature.

An instant visual attraction, the strong upwards view and proliferation of directional sunlight is incredible. How on earth did you not get any lens flare...been taking tips from Noel?? :) Amazing. The soft kiss of sunlight on the backside helps give definition to the sculpture. I really like the subtle range of colors in the sky, and what would appear to be two distinct halves of varying cloud formations. A really impressive shot Russ. Bravo! Glad to have ya' back around.

Hi Russ,

No new post from you in a while? What up with that. I thought I was taking my sweet time. Anyway, I understand. It take sometimes to be inspire and sometimes we do have stuff, just not inspire to post. One way or the other. this is not an easy shot, shooting up the sky against the light is always tricky. It sometimes can have a surprise outcome too. I like this one for the perspective and the it feel like I'm just a small animal looking up against this giant sculpture. I would not have desaturated the blue. sometime the strong contrast can make really cool image and it is what it is some time. We tend to over compensate sometimes. Regardless this is the effect you wanted. I might have consider making it into a black and white.

I thought the person is real. Awesome silhouette. Have you heard of sustainable fishing? Fishermen have to release fishes back when they have overfished or if they have caught species that aren't useful to them. Even as he casts a wide net, some fishes have hope too :)
