Photographer's Note
The rock formation in Perce is unique and magical, it fascinates and attractes.
At low tide the access to the rock is possible by foot and the turists all take the opportunity to go near the rock.
"Percé Rock (French rocher Percé, "pierced rock") is an island and sheer rock formation in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence just off the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, Canada, near the village of Percé. It is one of the largest and most spectacular natural arches in the world.
It is a massive limestone stack 433 metres (1420 ft) long, 90 metres (296 ft) wide, and 88 metres (289 ft) at its highest point. The rock gets its name from a large 15 metre (50 ft) high arch near its seaward end.
Together with Bonaventure Island, Percé Rock is part of the Parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé.
There were actually two arches in the rock, when the outer arch collapsed on June 17, 1845. For four hours at a time during low tide, the water recedes from a wide spit that allows the rock itself to be visited. Percé Rock is a major tourist attraction in Quebec, with picturesque views of the rock from both Percé and nearby Bonaventure Island. It contains millions of marine fossils such as trilobites, tetracoralla, brachiopods and ostracods from the Devonian period." (Wikipedia)
"Warning: The walk along the cliffs of Rocher Percé is extremely dangerous. Several tons of rock fall each year, no matter what the season. This sector is only accessible in the summer during guided visits. Find out more at the park's Discovery and Service Centre or at www.parcsquebec.com."
it seems taht from May 2008 the acess to the rock waas limited.

Bonjour Flavia! It seems like floating into your picture somehow, the stones in the foreground going into one direction give this feeling to me. You managed the situation really well with the shadow part and how the rock sticks out in the full sun over there. I have seen pictures of the rock before but when I counted the miles I had to drive from Montreal I left it out but I guess it was a big mistake seeing this. I like your tourists somehow, they add a little color in a nice way :) I mean I am tourist too sometims and when I am there I badly want to be alone, and I constantly whinge about "them". Very nice photo, I like it a lot. Barbara.

Hi Flavia,
a wonderful place, interesting note...good colours, but a little lack of sharpness. The black stones in the foreground give a good perspective and depth.
Compliments, Chris

Flavia,
you're getting better and better with landscape shots and this is definitively your best of this rock, By far! I'm in awe! The composition with the rock off center is perfect - couldn't be better. The foreground withe the leading lines to the rock in the background makes the whole image! The people gives the scale of the rock and that is another perfect thing. Your light management and PP with contrast and saturation is straight to the point!
Congratulations for this outstanding work!!!

Olá Flávia,
Esta foto está muito melhor que anterior, em minha opinião.
O rochedo vê-se melhor, a "procissão" de turistas é mais interessante, e há um bonito reflexo do rochedo na água baixa do primeiro plano. Bela foto!
Um abraço

With two images of this rock,Flava, I don't know wich I prefer. This image is remarkable, I think, for its fresh and dramatic composiition, using that remarkable reflection and placing the rock to the far left, creates a delightful sense of movement. regards kevin

Hello Flavia

Such awesome blues Flavia, so vivid. And the dark rocks in the foreground converging towards the wonderfully shaped, almost glowing, rock.

Bonsoir Flavia

Hi, Flavia -
Now that's a stunning photograph! Great strong colors, beautiful reflections and light management. The horizon line in the middle is normally verboten, but it works well here.

Ola Flavia,
This huge rock is very impressive. I am hoping to visit this place next summer when we visit Montreal, though I don't know how far is from Montreal or Quebec City. Your image is very well composed with the rock on the left to allow for a more natural reading of the image. Good colours and details with an excellent capture of natural light. Thanks Flavia.
