Photographer's Note
Well I have been too busy to post any photos or visit many of my friends on trek lately. My work load has been challenging and have had little time to enjoy a good evening on this site. So please forgive me for not returning your kind critiques.
Another thing that has hindered my ability to enjoy photography is the waiting for my repaired Rebel from Canon. I thought I could fix the vexatious error 99 code myself but resigned to sending the camera in to a Calgary Service center. Upon calling them they said they were replacing the shutter for me at a reasonable cost. So I am waiting. If you ever wonder about your occupation in photography try living without your camera for a couple months. That void made me think for a while about why I enjoy taking photos. I would have to conclude that there exists inside me a creative expression that needs to capture photos. And believe me I have seem so many photo opportunities in the last few weeks too. So onto this photo.
This is another capture taken on the west coast of Vancouver Island from last September. I took a number of morning photos along the coast that can be seen in the theme link. This zoom capture shows the morning mist from the sea and gentle sun highlights shining through on the coastline. Cropped a little further to capture a thirds balance, I trust you will enjoy seeing this frame. Enjoy and all the best!

Well Paul... it's been a while since my last posting on TE as well. Too busy with work, some photo gigs on the side, plus the fact that I have my mom in town for a month has taken up the little spare time I had... ahahaha.
As much as I love my camera- losing it (knock-on-wood) although I'd miss it- I wouldn't feel as lost as losing my cell phone (which happened 2 weekends ago!). Hahaha, I guess it's one of those sub-conscious things where you don't realise how much you like something or take it for granted until it's NOT there.
Nice shot here Paul, especially as it's VERY close to home for me. This makes me look forward to my summer trip in August (time to start the countdown again....).
Excellent colors- with the water being true in color (to me). The mist over the rocks is an interesting addition as I'm used to seeing fog blocking my views! Haha. Excellent sharpness and nice levels. I like the layered effect of blue/ brown/ green.
Nice work Paul!

Hey Paul, sorry to hear about your camera, that's terrible that it takes so long. Maybe you should have used the opportunity to upgrade! Anyways, it will be back in your hands soon, and then I expect a real explosion of photos from you. I like the light on the trees in this on, which shows lots of detail there. Nice work!

Hi Paul,
I was in Ucuelet in 2005. Very nice and interesting place.
I hope you will get your camera soon, because I miss your new BC shots. C’mon make yourself gift. You deserve it. Some time ago you mentioned something about upgrading to 400, so go for it now:)
Nice image. I like the color of the water.
Thanks for posting.
Cheers
Janusz

Hi Paul,
the waves and the water movement are wonderful captured. I like the clear lines of water and then touching the rocky coast with the "wall" of trees behind. The humidity is adding life and the clear colours make your shot to an enjoyable impression. But the best is the water. Good luck for the repair.

Good shot! The colour, the mist, the clarity and general luminosity make this otherwise prosaic scene stand out. The light is really well captured and the colour of the water is superb. Hope you get that camera back soon.

Hi Paul. I'm sorry to hear it's going to be that long. I guess that's one good thing about Nikon is that they take just a few weeks. The mist is very nice here though as is the color of the water. If you get real desperate you could buy a new camera from a place like Best Buy and just return it at the end of the 30 days. Nice shot Paul.

Hello Paul,
Beautiful shot of the amazing west coast of Vancouver Island. I love the way you captured the waves splashing into the rocks and the mist hanging in front of the rocks and trees. Great lighting, beautiful composition and details! Great work, Paul!
Greetings,
Ann
PS: I hope you'll get your camera back soon!

Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear about your camera problems and hope they are resolved soon...As Dan has stated, this shot has a great layered effect, with the dynamic waves crashing on the shore and then the green woods dominating the upper half of the frame. I am impressed here with the clarity of detail. Well captured.

Hi Paul,
I can sympathise about you being without your camera, mine was a away for a clean for over 6 weeks and I didn't enjoy the experience.
As for your post; I like the misty appearance in front of the rocks, the blueness of the sea contrasts well with the green of the trees and a bit of dynamics is added by the crashing waves. A fine composition my friend, well done.

Hi Paul,
What a lovely place you photographed. Sitting at the cost, listening the sound of waves and feeling the wind on the face are my wishes at the moment.
