Photographer's Note
I called this photo "Saltbox", as it describes the type of Newfoundland Home Architecture. These homes where mainly constructed from 1835-1910.
This home is located at the end of the "Tinkers Point Path" of the East Coast Trail. Myself and 9 other hiker completed a 4 hour hike along the rugged coastline, to be met by this colourful home in Tors Cove. One of the hikers can be seen on a swing, enjoying a well deserved break.
I particularly like this photo because of the colourful trim and a great example of a dying part of my heritage.
I apologize for the white specks as a light snowfall just began.

Lovely shot... Speck? Not to worry... We just got about 3'' of 'specks' in Montreal today ;-)
Any chance of seeing this beauty later with snow on the ground? TFS.

That house has more personality than you can shake a stick at and you have presented it very well..
I agree that this would be great to see in snow ..
take care,
John

Hi, Rodney. No reason for apologizing about the falling snow, I think it creates a very nice atmosphere. Moreover, a lot of people are longing for it over here in Europe. Here you show us some typical architecture with that wooden house in a lovely setting. It stands well out against the green grass and tree. Your fellow walker gives us the scale of the building. A well-balanced shot.

Hello Rodney,
Good well balanced composition of this interesting building. Good colours and definition. No need to apologise for the snowflakes but I am not sure about the inclusion of the person under the tree ;-)

Tell you what Rodney,
perfect composition her and I really mean that. If you take a photo of a building, and for that almost anything, take it head on as it is more formal and confrontational. That is, it is harder to take because you feel awkward and hence the viewer feels like he is in your awkward position. Good stuff,
br,
Mark

Indeed, the trim is wonderful and colourful. The composition works well. I was going to say, pity about the white sky, but then I noticed the snowflakes and read your note. Impossible to have colour in the sky when there isn't any!!
Best wishes

Hi Rodney,
Very nice composition and contrast of the lively/warm red colour on the house and cold feeling the snow brings.
Is the lady there trying to protect herself from the not very hostile weather or did you tell her to go there to improve your composition?

hi rodney,
the colors of the house are what make this foto so eye-popping. you captured it superbly and the white specks of snow are a bonus to the composition. a clear, bright and well detailed one.
happy new year!

Hello,
many things make me like this picture! (which reminds me a bit of Iceland).
Straight, frontal positioning of house and tree, very effective with the white background, which I don't mind at all, neither the white specks. To me they enhance the general atmosphere and the amazing colours, that red...! Who needs a blue sky every day ?:-)
What is the lady doing ?
Great work.
