I disagree terhe's something to learn about this image, we learn that the photographer is a great one. We learn that bird silhouttes against a dramatic sky is a beautful thing specailly when combined with the humans too.

Your photo is gorgeous and i like the tilt. The hands of the person in stripes is great. I'm just not too fond of the disembodied arm growing from the left bottom corner.

A dramatic, and even a bit scary one. You have created a magical atmosphere, using the back pale light.
A quote from Alfred Hitchcock's "Birds" would also be great as a note.

Now this is what i call different!!! Really nice original shot. Good choice on the B&W and the tilt. Loved the poem with the picture as well, although the Hitchcock comment was also a good idea from Yitzhak :)

A great photo, Peter, very dynamic composition. Very dark but the birds and the hands are highlighted in a fantastic way. Like also the dramatic tilt. Very good one, really, and thank you for the Leonard Cohen song, it's one of my favourites...

It took the breath away from my polluted, infested lungs.

A really dramatic capture, Peter. The hand with the food thrown upward caught perfectly by the tilt, and the bat-like wings of the birds against the dark sky have produced an eerie image. Excellent stuff.

You are far too modest Peter.

This not more than a brilliant photo, I immediately think of Hitchcock's "Birds" movie, less scary though.

The pov makes us feel very inside the moment, looking up towards those birds and ... raising arms and shouting ... Dynamic composition all where elements drive us to the sky. The hands make the photo for sure, the birds really stand out and marvelously positionned, great timing.

I wish you could have positioned yourself more on the right to detach more the 2 men bodies, hopefully you managed to work out the light (natural light, dodging or whatever, I think it was neccesssary here) on the middle man's shoulder. The left hand (beyond the aesthetic aspct pf the photo) is key to balance the massive & dark right section.

Hi Peter,

Surprised I missed this one, has all the elements I normally spring towards-- dark, troubling sky, and birds. Seems so simple, so innocent, so universal and activity (isn't that a dirty word around here? :) ).

On the amputated arm, I like its inclusion but I think I'd like to see just a bit more of the person it belongs to also, even a semi-cropped head and shoulders, just to add a third person to complete the balance.

PS: I'll be studying at U of T in the Fall...

I'm so happy, to see that this was taken with the 350D, as well as an 1.8 lens...

I have been debating between the 1.4 and 1.8 for a while, so this is a good example of what can be done with the 1.8...

This is so striking and shows what can be done in processing and gives me some hope in working away on my digital images.

The figures look like they could have been cut and pasted, not because it looks fake or anything like that, because they are all so strategically placed - they are beautifully harmonised and in sync with every single element of the scene...

you have one of the most inspiring galleries in the community...I thought so in the beginning and my opinion has just grown stronger...thank you for you brief but insightful interest in my early stages - it has helped me no end.

I just can't take so much beauty Peter. This photo brings tears to my eyes. (If you knew me, you would know that I am speaking the truth here...) Deep awe and admiration. Difficult for me to write words Peter. I think there is only total silence to look at this perfect photo. It is so much beauty, it hurts... Tell me, do you sell your photos? I want this picture under my eyes...
