Photographer's Note

The Saguenay fjord, seen from the trail between Riviere-Eternité and l'Anse St-Jean. It was a cloudy but mild day, October 3rd. Although we are just over the 48th parallel (therefore, south of Paris and many other North European capital cities), the rocky soil, the wind and the climate only allow the growth of subarctic vegetation. The river, at this point, is about 2 km wide and more than 100 m deep. Water is salted and there are tides, coming up from the St.Lawrence.
