Photographer's Note

This is the centre block of the Canadian Parliament building in Ottawa & the Peace Tower, it is positioned on Parliament Hill, The building was designed by architect Eugène-Étienne Taché and was built between 1877 & 1886. With the frontal tower of the building stands at 52 metres or 171 feet in height.
While World War 1 was raging in Europe, the Canadian Parliament Buildings in Ottawa caught fire on a freezing February night in 1916. With the exception of the Library (which is positioned behind the centre block) the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings was destroyed and seven people died. The exact cause of the Parliament Buildings fire was never pinpointed, but the Royal Commission investigating the fire ruled out sabotage.
