Photographer's Note

Ok, maybe i'm showing my ignorance here...but I didn't realize Van Gogh had painted his Starry Night artwork, his most famous...while being a patient in a Mental Hospital.

Perhaps I knew about it but I forgot over the years...anyways, that is quite an accomplishment, considering the way Mental Illness was treated back in the 1800's. I wonder how they treated his paranoia, as anti psychotic medications are relatively a new thing, only a few decades old.

And as some of you know, I'm a psychiatric nurse working with Mental health patients, so I totally have a new heightened respect for the man.
